Some words we learned about this week are self disclosure, reciprocate, and sexting. Self disclosure means sharing private, sensative, or confidential information about yourself online. Reciprocate means to give in return. Finally, sexting means sending or receiving sexual explicit photos or videos through texts or other digital devices.
A new web 2.0 tool we used this week is
Make Beliefs Comix. This website is AWESOME! It's like a virtual comic script. Make Beliefs Comix lets you make your own comic strip about anything you want.. because it's make believe. We made our Make Beliefs Comix about sexting and how you can build relationships online. Right there's mine.
The first comic shows an example of how you can avoid sexting. The second comic shows how you can build a good relationship online.
Some positive things about this website are that it's very fun to use. You can use your imagination with this website. I also like how you can put any character on there. There can be talking alligators, cats, dogs, or people. I think it's very awesome.
Some negative about this website are that you can only go up to 4 slides. It would be way much better if you could go up to say about 8 because then you could have a whole story and it would be even more awesome but you can't, it only goes up to 4.
The digital literacy component we learned about this week is sexting and building relationships online. You should never, ever, EVER send provacative pictures to someone through email, or especially text massaging. Because if that person wanted to, they could forward that picture to everyone in their contact lost and pretty much ruin your life for forever.
No, you're not cool if you think sexting is cool. So, don't do it, because you're just making yourself look stupid if you do it. The other digital literacy component we learned about this week is building good relationships online. Don't stalk people on Facebook, Twitter, etc. That is just creepy. That's also not a good way to try to build a relationship with someone online. How would you feel if you found out someone was stalking you on the Internet? It wouldn't be so appealing, would it? So, just
be kind to them, and not creepyish. THen, you should have a pretty good relationship built up with them online.
This information helps me in my academic life because if I were to send a provacative picture, it could get around to the whole school, and people would bully me. Then , I wouldn't want to come to school. In that case, I wouldn't get too much of an education. This helps me in my personal life because I don't want to be the type of person that is creepy. I would hate to be called the creepy person. It also helps me because it's helping me retain a good reputation for myself. If I was the type of girl who sent naked pictures around to anyone who asked for it, I would be considered nasty, and usually, that's not really all that good. This also helps me with my interactions online because if you appear to be creepy, no body is going to want to talk to you online because everybody knows you're that creepy person that goes around and stalks them on the Internet. It's not really good.
Overall, my week has been awesome. It's flown by, but it was a very good week, except for all the tests/quizzes . I've been waiting for Friday to come.. and it's finally here !!!
