Weekly Blog Review

Some new terms we learned this week are represent, persona, avatar, and anonymous, and inhibited.
Represent means how you present yourself to others. Persona is an image or personality you show to other people. Avatar is a graphic image to represent you online. Anonymous means hidden identity. Finally, inhibited means participle; someone who is careful or restrained in actions or impulses.

The web 2.0 tool we learned about and used this week is Glogster. Glogster is like a virtual pinboard and it allows you to put all of your thoughts on it. You can add photos, add music, and add other information. It's pretty awesome. My Glogster is at the top..

Some positive aspects of Glogster is that it has a bunch of different things you can choose from. You can choose from different banners, difeerent colors, (there's a lot of colors, by the way.) you can also change the font, change the color of the font, upload any picture you want to use on your 'pinboard'. You can also make as many as you want. The most positive thing about Glogster, is that it is free.

Some negative aspects of Glogster is that it can be a bit confusing to use. If you don't know what you're doing, then it's pretty confusing. It's hard to find how how to upload pictures.. it took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to do it. Also, it's hard to get the font from changing when you're trying to type something. But other than that, it's pretty simple.

The digital literacy component we learned about this week was "Being Real Online". This was an important lesson we learned. It taught us a lot of things. Being real online can be important in many ways. It can save you a lot of embarrassment. If you're being fake online, then people will know you are a liar, and then they will probably say something to you. That will really embarrass you. Also, you want people to respect you, not neglect you.

This affects my personal life because it taught me not to be fake so I won't be made a butt of. Also, people will respect you and me more if you're honest. This helps me in my academic life because if I pass the quiz about this, it will bring my grade up. This helps me with my interactions online because if people see someone being fake online, they're going to bully that person. So it's better if you just be real online.

Overall, my week has been AMAZING. This week of school has been by far the best yet. I just can't wait until next Thursday whenever we finally get to move into our building. It's only been 2 months late, but it feels like 2 years. I can't wait to find out what being in an actual school with these awesome people is going to be like.

  1. I really like your Glogster. Your background is pretty cool too! I agree with the negatives on Glogster. At first I was confused but then I got the hang of it and it was very cool.I hope we get to use this tool again. I agree with your digital literacy. People will respect you for who you are if you are you online and not trying to be someone else.
